Sri Lanka: €1,471 Etihad Business Class from Warsaw; €1,787 from 4 Other European Countries (No Lounge Access)

Etihad business window seat

Etihad Airways is offering a deal from Europe to Sri Lanka, starting at just €1,471 for departures from Warsaw. However this fare is only available if you don’t mind two long layovers (one overnight) in Abu Dhabi. Flights with shorter connection times are available from other European airports, starting at €1,781.

This offer includes 23 kg of checked luggage but doesn’t include the access to the lounge, for that you will have to upgrade your fare from Value to Comfort on Etihad’s website. This upgrade will cost you between €200 to €300 depending on your origin.

Departures are available from December 2025 through June 2026, though dates from Central Europe ends in April. Additionally, flights from Italy and Spain are available between August and November 2026.

You can fly from the following airports with this offer:

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to Etihad and Skyscanner with your selected flight dates. You check what OTAs have to offer, as they sell these tickets up to €200 cheaper:

First, you will fly from Europe to Abu Dhabi. If you fly on a wide body aircraft, you’ll experience a 1-2-1 business class configuration. However, on their new Airbus A321 (for example, from Dusseldorf), the configuration is 1-1, also featuring lie-flat seats. Unfortunately, the evening flights from Rome are operated by Wamos Air on an Airbus A330, which has a 2-2-2 configuration. Your flight from Abu Dhabi to Colombo will be on an Etihad Airbus A321 with a recliner seat in a 2-2 configuration.

Paying €400 more to add lounge access is way too much. If you are keen on that experience, paid lounge access from providers like Plaza Premium or Priority Pass is a better deal. For example, a Priority Pass Standard Plus including 10 visits is available for €289 and gives you lounge access in Abu Dhabi, Europe and most Asian airports – plus six additional visits. Since most layovers are rather short, you might even survive 2 hours without free drinks or food.

Visa Info

Most European passport holders can visit Sri Lanka with an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), allowing a stay of up to 30 days (extendable to 180 days).

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
